AMD demonstates Phenom II X6
VR-Zone - March 02, 2010 1:39 PM
AMD has held a conference on its upcoming six-core Phenom II X6 CPUs at Hannover, ahead of CEBIT 2010. Rumoured for an April 26th release, the X6 CPUs are expected to launch in two variants. The working Phenom II X6 was demonstrated running on a Gigabyte 890GX motherboard. Of course, the upcoming 800 series chipset motherboards support Phenom II X6 off the box. However, older 700 series motherboards are also expected to be compatible, albeit with a BIOS update. This will open up a viable upgrade path for existing Athlon II / Phenom II owners.
